Into The Abel Tasman

A range of locally operated options that excel at showcasing the beautiful Abel Tasman National Park.

Explore the Abel Tasman

There is an awesome range of keen operators that can’t wait to show you round the Abel Tasman. This is because the Abel Tasman is one of the smallest, but arguably best national parks, due to its compact size, long tracks, beachfront walks, stunning bush, back country hills and every growing flora and fauna. Whats more, every time you book an activity in the Park donations are made to help protect it! All bookings can be made at the barn on arrival.

Aqua Taxi

Locally run out of Marahau, they provide flexibility for doing day walks in or out of the park and will even drop you deep into the park and pick up again that afternoon so you can explore the far reaches of the park while enjoying the comforts of Marahau.

The best way to book is through our front desk at The Barn where we can recommend trips based on your preferences and weather conditions.

Abel Tasman Sailing

Sailing the beautiful turquoise water and golden beaches of the Abel Tasman creates one of those life time memories. Our personal favourite is to bring along some delicious nibbles and a splash of wine and kick back and take in the views.

Other Options include walking or kayaking into the park and then cruising back out on the winds. This is an awesome option as you get to explore the forests and/or coast lines in the morning and then sit back and sail home!

Slide down water polished chutes, jump into crystal clear pools and abseil through showering waterfalls. That’s what canyoning is about! Join one of the exciting, action packed canyoning trips with fun guides and mind blowing scenery. Bookings available from the office.

Horse Trekking

Marahau has a range of horse trekking options from small pony rides and clydesdale carts for the family or treks for intermediate and advanced riders.

Lots of options including the beach trips at low tide! A wonderful way to experience Marahau before heading into the Abel Tasman Park

Waka (Māori canoe) are the living expression of our tūpuna (ancestors) who sailed the Pacific Ocean for thousands of years. As the only form of transport across oceans and waterways, waka were vital to our travel and trade.

By paddling in our double-hulled (waka tuarua) or single-hulled outrigger canoes (waka ama), you share in New Zealand’s treasured heritage. Waka is an inclusive experience where everyone can feel the joy of working as part of a team.
