To begin the Ultimate Abel Tasman Trip, you will be on the first boat out of Marahau and into the park on the to begin The Gullet section. This 6-7 hour stretch from Torrent Bay to Awaroa is the best walking section in The Abel Tasman. You can upgrade from the standard camping to the famous Awaroa Lodge if you feel like a bit of a treat on the first night!
From here you start the Remote Coast Guided Kayak trip. It’s an awesome day exploring the Marine Reserve including going up shag harbor to visit the seal pups and out to tonga Island. The second nights camp is Mosquito Bay. Don’t let the name fool you, it is one of the best beaches in the park and highly sort after. Book in early to get this!
Day three, you are in command of your own kayak. Explore down through the bays rivers and lagoons until you get to Anchorage where you will set up camp for the third night. If you have time, skip off to Te Pukatea bay via the Pitt Head Loop, a great place to explore and go for a swim. There has been a lot of conservation efforts on this point, so the bush is regenerating well and the bird life if coming back stronger here.
Finally, the fourth day in the park is canyoning down the famous Torrent river. Your guide will meet you on the Anchorage beach for an amazing day of boulder jumping, zip lining, abseiling and rock jumps. A true highlight! At the end of the day, you will boat back into Marahau to kick back and relax after a big Abel Tasman Adventure. Explore the local restaurants or just soak it up in the tubs at The Barn after The Ultimate Abel Tasman Trip!
