Information about The Barn
A quick summary of some FAQ’s about what is going on at The Barn and in the Abel Tasman.
We are pet-friendly to friendly pets. However, you are personally responsible for your animal and any complaints by other guests may result in immediate cancelation of your booking with zero refund. In short, if your furry friends are anti-social then leave them at home. You also need to be aware that bringing your pet over the busier times of year is probably a bad idea.
They need to be on a leash at all times. We also do not allow pets inside or in any of the Self-contained buildings.
We are always open but may have the office shut in winter or sometimes closing early. In this case we leave all bookings a message, map and key outside the office. This will show you were your room is and the rest of the site. Just pop come say hello in next morning to check in!
Absolutely! We all love living out here and know the right places and things to do dependent on weather and personal preferences. We can arrange free transport for you to get picked up out the front of our office and transport back to The Barn at the end of the day free of charge!

Of course! We have free bag lockers just beside the office that you can store your gear in.
We have paid overnight car parking, or its free to leave you car here for the day if you have a booking. The Public Doc Car park is just 100m down the road!
The closest dump station is in the back of the Motueka New World car park, so best to use that one on the way out. Its Free!!!
Yes! About as close as you can get. It is just 100m down the road at the doc Car Park. From there, head past the park cafe and up Harvey Road to The Barn. Be sure to check the Golden Bay Shuttles Time
We have a small shop onsite that sells a few of the favourites (including Ben and Jerry’s ice-cream). In addition, we have a range of Adult Drinks and your morning espresso!
We provide all linen for all rooms. In addition private cabins will have towels included as well.
We often get group bookings coming to stay with us at The Barn. Feel free to contact us if you want to enquire, or make a booking here
We can organise all aspects of school trips including all activities in the park and educational focused trips. If this is of interest, please contact us directly to get a tailored package to your requirements
We can provide a range of options locally, and have contacts for nation wide trips that can be tailored to your requirements. Please contact us directly to find out more.
We have a range of gear available for hire, including tents, sleeping bags, sleeping mats, cookers, gas canister, pots & pans and cutlery. In addition to the gear, we also have a bit of good advice around the best spots to camp, tides and can book transport in or out of the park. All this can be arranged on arrival.
Yes, depending on the time of year we can even close the site to the public for your function. We can make arrangements in the area for transport, activities and restaurants. Just get in contact with us for options.
The bus companies have stopped operating for winter due to covid, so either find a rental car or a shuttle with Tasman Passenger Services
