The Barn Cabins & Camp

Te Puke Express

First day is a Freedom Kayak from Marahau up the Astrolabe to Anchorage/Observation beach (depending on weather conditions). You can explore both Fisherman and Adele Island where you may find some seals and penguins. The Adele Island Sand-spit is a cool stop if you are passing by at low tide. The coast line of the Abel Tasman through here is a collection of golden beaches, some of which are inaccessible from the Main Walking Track.

You will land at Anchorage Bay where the Kayaks will be collected at 3:30pm that afternoon. From here, you are on foot for a short walk over to Te Pukatea Bay for the night. This is an awesome beach/bay just 15mins away from Anchorage. Have a classic late afternoon swim, set up camp and bask in the wholesome sunset at the beach in the Abel Tasman National Park.

On the second day, you are heading North on foot into our favourite hiking section of The Abel Tasman called The Gullet. The forest is older through here so the trees are more mature and can support more bird life. There are a few awesome look outs including the Frenchman’s lagoon and Sandfly bay spit. You will also walk past Cleopatras Pool, Torrent Bay and the Falls River swing bridge before getting a ride out of the park at 3:00pm from Bark Bay!
